The University of Toronto Department of Radiation Oncology (UTDRO) is now accepting applications for the STARS21 Program 2025–2026, a prestigious, year-long strategic training initiative in transdisciplinary radiation medicine. Designed for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows, STARS21 offers advanced research training, leadership workshops, and interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities in one of the world’s most comprehensive radiation oncology training environments.

What is STARS21?

STARS21 (Strategic Training in Transdisciplinary Radiation Science for the 21st Century) is a competitive fellowship that trains the next generation of researchers and clinician-scientists in the evolving field of radiation medicine.

Eligibility Criteria

The program is open to:

  1. Graduate students (Master’s and PhD candidates)
  2. Postdoctoral fellows
  3. Medical residents in radiation oncology or related specialties
  4. Clinical fellows in cancer care, imaging, or radiation sciences

Applicants from across Canada and international institutions are welcome.

Application Procedure

Step 1: Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) before the applicable deadline.

Step 2: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application.

Step 3: Awards will be announced in September 2025 for a program start in Fall 2025.
